Michelle Obama and Muslim Fashion Clothes

Michelle Obama in Indonesia 2010

Michelle Obama, the First Lady of the United States of America, visited Indonesia with her husband, the President of the United States of America. The outfit that Michelle Obama wore (see image below) turned some heads for sure, and she gained the attention, respect and admiration of Muslim women. Muslim women, whether they wear the headscarf, i.e., the hijab, or not, tend to dress modestly - no showing of skin, and basically no clothes that objectifies the female body in a sexual manner. To see the First Lady of the most important country (one that is usually thought of as being hostile to Muslims, especially during the Bush era), dress in a manner that most Muslim women dress was indeed a pleasant surprise.

Michelle Obama wore a knee-length tunic with long sleeves and wide legged black pants. And she looked fantastic.

Tunic Tops for Muslim Women

Muslim women have been wearing tunics for the longest time. In fact, South Asian women also wear tunic and pants as their traditional outfit, called the shalwar kameez. Well, it seems the mainstream fashion world have finally caught up with the versatility, simple modesty and comfort that comes from a tunic and pants outfit. Tunics are now available in most stores, and appears to be latest fashion trend. And this means Muslim women have a great variety of choices when shopping at the malls! This is all good!

Here are some of the latest fashionable tunics that we found online.
